Neue 2TB Festplatte in Philips SPD8020 zum Laufen bringen?

Hi Freaks, habe von meinem Sohn das NAS Gehäuse von Philips bekommen. Habe dann eine 2TB WesternDigital Platte meines Windows Rechners mit Parted Magic Live CD nach der "how to" soweit vorbereitet, aber Diese bootet im NAS nicht (es blinkt andauernd die blaue Diode). An anderer Stelle hatte ich gelesen, dass man aus der Firmware von fvdw die Bootpartitionen sda1 und sda2 extrahieren könnte, dies habe ich mit der Version 10.1 gemacht. Auf diesen beiden Partitionen befindet sich jeweils ein Lost&found Ordner sowie die fvdw-sl-10-1-phn-19nov2011.img, MD5, Name, und Platform Dateien. Ich vermute das hier der Fehler liegt, an die Original Dateien komme ich leider nicht mehr, da mein Sohn die Originalplatte unter Windows bereits neu Formatiert hat. Hat irgendjemand noch einen Rat für mich? Kann man vielleicht die fvdw Firmware mithilfe von ParteMagic auf die Patte schieben?

Seems your problem is that you don't have a firmware disk image as there was no disk in your spd8020, and if you have the disk image file and the other files as you described on partitions sda1 and sda2 then you clearly did not follow the guide on this point how to write this image to sda1 and sda2 and just copied over the files :disapprove thats not the right way

Indeed you can subtract this from the firmware upgrade file. The xx.bin file is bz2 compressed archive and you can uncompress it using
tar -xjvf firmware-file.bin
You will find several small files and one big one with extension .img of 150 MB (or 200 MB or 250 MB in newer versions). That is the disk image you need for sda1 and sda2.
In your case using 10-1 upgrade file it is the file with name fvdw-sl-10-1-phn-19nov2011.img
This file you need to write sda1 and sda2 using the "dd" command (so not simple copy command)

dd if=/path-to/fvdw-sl-10-1-phn-19nov2011.img of=/dev/sdb1

do this also for sdb2
path-to must be replaced by the path were you stored the .img file
IMPORTANT I assumed sdb is the disk you are preparing for the spd8020. Be sure that you use the right name. If you apply this command and write to the wrong disk then..well you know what will happen...you might wipe out your harddisk containing windows

Furthermore don't forget to set the boot flag on sda1 or sda2 otherwise it won't boot as the boot loader of the spd8020 looks to the flag which partition to use to load the firmware.

OK Sie haben recht, ich habe, da ich die Originalen Image Files nicht habe, aus der Firmware 10.1 die Dateien entpackt und auf sda2 und sda2 kopiert, wusste nicht das ich in diesem Fall genau so mit dem dd-Commando vorgehen musste.
Habe dieses dann direkt getan und es hat funktioniert. Habe auch gleichzeitig auf sdb6 /mnt-sdb6 neben dem Ordner /public noch die shares /Music /fvdw /Bilder /Video /Film angelegt. Anschliessend testweise ein paar .mp3 in /Music kopiert.
Habe danach direct auf Firmware 13 Upgedatet, hat auch funktioniert.
Seit 2 Tagen versuche ich nun die verschiedenen Einstellungsoptionen durch, aber nirgendwo ist meine Festplatte oder die shares zu sehen.
Was habe ich falsch gemacht??? Ich habe, da ich dies alles neu habe, ja auch keinen Vergleich zu früher, bin also im NAS Bereich absoluter Neuling.

So to change the workgroup set in the nas database and replace by this one used by your LAN, go the LAN setup

creating the folder on sda6 is not sufficient to make them visible as shared folder, you need to create them in the shared folders menu of the web interface. In the default database only the share public is defined and that you should be able to see. The other ones you created on the disk need to be defined as well in the web interface. Be aware that in Linux folder names are case sensitive.


If you know the ip address of your spd8020, which you apparently otherwise you can not access the webinterface, then type in windows explorer (datei manager)

Ich glaube das ich mich etwas unklar ausgerückt habe. Die Arbeitsgruppe hatte ich als erstes angepasst, funktioniert auch soweit einwandfrei.
Als ich die Share Ordner hatte ich auch die Patches WebDAV und Cronjob in den fvdw Ordner kopiert, um sie im Firmeware-Interface schnell installieren zu können. Aber im Auswahlmenue für Patches habe ich ausser /.. keine weitere Möglichkeit.
Genauso kann ich auch keine Freigaben erstellen, ich bekomme die Fehlermeldung "bitte wählen Sie eine Festplatte" ich kann aber keine Festplatte wählen.

this indicates to me that partition sda6 is not mounted
sda6 is the partition were all shares are located

Difficult to say why it can not be mounted. It could happen in case you did not format it correctly.

If you have experience with Linux then you could connect to the spd8020 using putty (username: root, password: giveit2me)

On the command line give the command

check if sda6 is mounted on /share/1000

If not try to mount it using this command

if tit fails it will give an error message

Habe heute 2x versucht das Problem zu lösen und nochmal die Partitionen sdb5 und sdb6
neu erstellt formatiert, die 10.1 Firmware nochmal neu auf sdb1 und sdb2 aber es bootet nicht.
Werde morgen noch einmal komplett von vorne anfangen nach der how to.
Hoffe ich muss dann nicht mit weiteren Fragen nerven?

You got it running once only it could find sda6 so you should be able to get back to that situation
If you have it running again and can access the webinterface but still do not see the share or can not choose a volume then do not reinstall everything again.
If it is in this state then we can access the sp8020 via ssh (using putty, a ssh client running under windows), this will give us a linux command prompt and we can investigate the problem and solve it from there directly on the spd8020.

Hi fvdw,
endlich sind meine Bemühungen belohnt worden und es scheint soweit alles zu klappen.
Habe die ganze Platte mit Parted Magic löschen lassen(intensiv),danach der how to entsprechend alles neu erstellt aber auch die sdb1 und sdb2 Partitionen neu formatiert und anschließend das 10.1 Firmwareimage darauf mit dd Command erstellt.
Das NAS hat ordentlich gebootet und nachdem ich mich dovon überzeugt hatte dass die Festplatte erkannte wurde, habe ich ein Firmwareupdate auf Version 13 vorgenommen. Hat auch funktioniert und ich habe zugriff darauf.
Nachdem ich die Shares und Benutzer konfiguriert hatte habe ich angefangen Dateien hochzuladen. Als erstes die Bilder dabei ist mir die sehr geringe Übertragungsrate von ca. 4,9MB/s aufgefallen.
Ist es möglich zum erstmaligen Hochladen der gesamten Dateien die auf dem NAS sein sollen, die Platte nochmal am PC direkt anzuschliessen um unter Parted Magic diese Dateien zu kopieren, da dies vielleicht die halbe Zeit dauert.
