Hi Fille,

It is difficult to answer directly without further details.

But, It appears that your external drive is not properly mounted. You should have:
Code: Select all
/share/1000/medion_1
The mountpoint (/mnt/medion_1/) must be replicated in the directory /share/1000

Very strange this mountpoint "/mnt/medion_1/medion_1/"

Check this with the command "mount" (in the Putty terminal)

If I understand your configuration, you have set the external share like a protected public share ?

What happens it if you set this share like a private share or public share ?

Good evening Fille,

I did some tests at home and unfortunately (or fortunately?). This is not a malfunction of your SPD8020. ;)

This is a firmware bug that I had found several months ago but I forgot to correct it ...

The firmware doesn't manage the case of an external public share and protected by a password.
When this option is enabled, the firmware creates a user with a name same as the share with a home directory build as follows:
"share/mountpoint/sharename"

As the mountpoint is "/mnt/medion_1" for an external drive. So you have "/share//mnt/medion_1/medion_1" instead of "share/1000/medion_1"

This bug will be fixed in the next version.

In the meantime, you can
- Create a user account (note: choose a name different of sharename !).
- Define the external like a private share and authorized access only to this user account.

Then, you get a comparable feature. :)

Sorry for this inconvenient

Good evening Jocko,

Thanks for the super quick reply.

It's not a big problem for me at all since i now mount my dev/sdb1 in/on a directory in the normal default public share which is working with FTP, that works fine!

Greetings and until later,

Filip.
