LACIE D2 Network 2 Project

Dear All,
As per fvdw's request I'm opening this new thread we can try to install the firmware on my device and to make it work.
My device has only one 2TB disk (WD Red) and I would like to make it work again since the previous one (2TB Seagate drive) died on me and LACIE's support really sucks because they don't provide support on how to restore it's firmware on clean drives (Yes, awful design!! I don't understand who was the genius that installed the firmware on the HDD).

Now, let's go to work.
I was directed to install the fvdw-sl console on a windows PC and try to load the the nwsp2 standalone kernel. Will be checking the related forum and will get back to you all if I need further assistance.

As said first try if the standalone kernel runs using the fvdw-sl console, use the nwsp2 standalone kernel you can load it via that kernel via this console.
It will require some trial and error to find out which slot will defined as sda and which one as sdb. We to know that to be able to install the firmware on the right disk.
We can find that out as follow, put a disk in one of the slots (write down which on seen from the back left or righthand side) Load the standalone kernel and connect with the telenet termnal that should come up.
Now give the command

dmesg

on the command line in the telnet terminal
(see more detailed help in the help menu of the console).
Shut down the nas with

poweroff -f

command and repeat the process but with now the disk in the other slot.

post the output of dmesg command for both trials.

After that we can determine next steps

The D2 Network 2 has only one Slot/Disk.
I'm installing the firmware while writing this msg. The installation finished with success so I'm rebooting my NAS now.

Finally!! I was able to install it with success and it's and running!!!
Should I install the latest firmware? Is there anything you need me to run on ir so you can make the required changes? What do you want me to test?

If the nas has booted rightly, a root shell access should be available.

So install Putty or Winscp on your laptop and open a shell terminal with these default credentials: login=root and password=giveit2me.

Then in the terminal give the command: dmesg.

I don't think that you may update the firmware as currently your platform "LaCie d2 Network v2" is not known by the update script.

You need first to install a patch and that we build a firmware v16.0 image for this platform.

About your dmesg, I found only two errors: invalid gpio 12 and nfsd,but fvdw is better for this. I assume that you started the nfs server to get the error
