FVDW-SL on a Seagate Personal Cloud - additional steps

Hi

Thank you with yours answer.

So disable inotify support fixes your issue. As inotify is a kernel feature maybe there is an problem with your platform type :scratch

Just an additional question :
if you enable notify option with a value 60, when you add a new media file or remove one, do you notice a change on the presentation page when you reload it after waiting the notify interval ?

So a new job to do :whistle
In few weeks, I will post a package to make a full support for Seagate personal cloud

Very good news, if I can help, I'm willing.
I read the user's manual to detect the main features and if I understand you have only one USB port no other ports (esata,... )?

For building the patch, can you post this output:
Code: Select all
dmesg
lsscsi -t      (<----------------better if you have a usb drive or stick plugged)

ls -l /sys/class/leds
ls -l /sys/class/leds/*/

according with the last output maybe I will ask additional information.

I'll tell you tomorrow, try tonight at home.

One USB port, by blue color connector is USB 3.0.

Other USB black connector next to the power and lan.

FVDW-SL on a Seagate Personal Cloud - additional steps

Postby Jocko » Thu Jan 31, 2019 1:15 pm

Hi

It seems the kernel does not yet support the white LED which is a bi-color LED (white and red). On your current kernel version, there is no available patch to do it, fvdw will check this point on the newest version if a patch exists.

But at least, you can check if with led settings available in sys, we can do something (I expect no).
So post
Code: Select all
grep '' /sys/class/leds/cumulus:red:sata0/*
(note '' is two single quotes and not a double quote)
Now please to report what happens (LED state) if you do
Code: Select all
echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/cumulus:red:sata0/brightness
(on ? red or white ?)
if yes,
Code: Select all
echo 50 > /sys/class/leds/cumulus:red:sata0/brightness
(brightness changes ?)
if yes,
Code: Select all
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/cumulus:red:sata0/brightness
(led off? or white on ?)

Still if led is on
Code: Select all
echo hearbeat >/sys/class/leds/cumulus:red:sata0/trigger
do you get a hearbeat blinking ?

About usb3 port, is it ok ? In your dmesg output we found the line
Code: Select all
[   19.319077] usb usb3: Manufacturer: Linux 4.6.6 xhci-hcd
but maybe some others drivers should be also loaded.
Do you note a rw speed improvement if you use this port instead of USB2 port ?
Please to post the dmesg output after plugging an USB key or a drive in your USB3 port.

Additional output,

Please to post
Code: Select all
usb-devices
lsscsi -t
when two external drives are plugged in USB2 and USB3 port. All is ok on this configuration ?
