File management in web browser

File management in web browser

Postby JDSplicit » Fri Jan 28, 2022 2:56 pm

Hi

I can access to my NAS via SMB etc, but is it possible to access and manage files using a web browser, as Synology FileStation ?

Owncloud seems to be the solution.

Can you confirm, please ?

It's an addons available for contributors ?

Yes that is (web-explorer) but you can use webdav via a browser for reading (and read/write access with a webdav client or file explorer with a local or remote access)

Thank you for your help.

I will try the addons (I have contributed to your amazing work via a small donation of another account, thank you again for bringing my D2N2 back to life)

In addition to the remark from Jocko. If you donated via an other account you can use that account to download addons ;)

Of course, I used this contributor account to log in (successfully) into FVDWSL on the NAS.

Unfortunately, even after successfull authentification, every download fail (error -99 : impossible to download, or error 17 : impossible to install)

I will try the patch04.

Argh !

After installing patch04, the NAS is not available anymore on the network after boot.

The activity LEDS around the RJ45 plug briefly turned ON at boot sequence, then briefly turned ON after a few seconds, but after boot is complete, no RJ45 lights anymore.

And of course, NAS is not visible on the network.

Booting sequence tested 3 times, with power button on the rear of the NAS, and blue round light/reset button on the front. Same result.

I go to sleep.

Any advice ?

Hi

Indeed it is not the expected behaviour...

So use fvdw-sl console and select the action "Standalone kernel, load and start". With a d2n2, you need to select as kernel image: "UIMAGE-3142-KIRKWOOD-171-standalone"

When you will succeed to get a telnet access, post the following outputs
Code: Select all
mkdir /sda7 /sda1 /sda2
mount /dev/sda7 /sda7
mount /dev/sda1 /sda1
mount /dev/sda2 /sda2
(note:  with /dev/sda[12] you may get error if there is not yet a fs on them according to how many upgrading you did. On such a case no need to post the next ouptuts on the related partition, for example cat /sda1/boot.log if mount command on /sda1 failed)

cat /sda7/boot.log
cat /sda1/boot.log
cat /sda2/boot.log

ls -al /sda7/boot.log
ls -al /sda1/boot.log
ls -al /sda2/boot.log

cat /sda7/postupgrade.log
cat /sda1/postupgrade.log
cat /sda2/postupgrade.log

ls -al /sda7/etc/init.d
ls -al /sda1/etc/init.d
ls -al /sda2/etc/init.d

cat /sda7/etc/platform
cat /sda1/etc/platform
cat /sda2/etc/platform

cat /sda7/etc/patch_log
cat /sda1/etc/patch_log
cat /sda2/etc/patch_log

Please can you confirm us, your 2d account is JDSplicit :scratch

And it seems you have fixed your issue yourself... Can you post what problem did you detect ?

I will merge your babble posts with the other account

Hi Jocko.

Sorry for my silence.

Yes, babble is my usual nickname for many decades.
JDSplicit is the account of the owner of the NAS (and donator), for whom I try to make it work. I write as himself.
Of course you can merge the two accounts as JDSplicit (keep this one, since it's used to auth in addons module of the firmware).

About my problem, I tried your solution, and the miracle happened.
Telnet begin to log into the NAS, some operations began, looking like the first installation process from scratch, then I don't remember exactly, but after reboot everything works again. Sorry, I'm not able to describe furthermore what's happened, but now it works. Thank you again for you support.

Back to the topic : I'm fighting with the D2N2 to correctly use a decent web based file manager. The included web-explorer is very not s3xy and doesn't work very nice for me. For example, I see the files present in the share, but I can only download them, not delete them. My user has full rights on folders. Strange...

I'm trying to give a chance to Owncloud. It's now installed, but even after unlog from FVDWSL-BASE, th owncloud page http://NASlocalIP/own-cloud/index.php/apps/files does not load (waiting for "serverIP..." after login with admin and cl1234...

edit : it finally did, but after a few minutes, which is VERY slow, almost not usable. Is this a common behavior ?

Moreover, owncloud uses his own folders : for example : /fvdw/addons/owncloud/data/admin/files/ and documents music photo in this folder. Not very useful since all my content is in specific shares under root "/"

I'm thinking that the best solution for distant access is FTP or webdav...

Your opinion ?
