LACIE D2 Network 2 Project

You are right. I've started NFS in order to access the shares from my WDTVLive. Was it something I did wrong?
Btw, I saw you created an Add-on for using Plex Media Server. Is this something I can install on this version or I will need to wait until the patch and the v16 firmware is available?
One other thing I noticed is that my NAS is shutting down from the Web Console and the power off switch is not working as before (When the switch was moved to the off position some graceful shutdown was performed by the firmware and after a while the NAS turned off).
Thank you for your help and support! This firmware saved my D2! :hail

No you can not install pms with version 15.1. The addon is available only for version 15.3 and for later (16.0 ->...), you don't need to install the add-on package.

Maybe you got this error if you used a trivial settings.
So when you start the nfs server, did you see some lines in the NFS server's export list area ?

To share a folder 'thingy' with the nfs server, you must :
- enable the nfs option in the related share of thingy
- set the wanted the ip address clients (so for example ip of your WDTVLive) to allow read or/and write access for thingy
- start the nfs server.
Then you should see in the export list area a line for this IP/folder 'thingy'

Note: of course 'thingy' can be also a share

I guess you were right since I started the NFS all over, restarted de NAS and I do not see the error again! (See attached dmsg)

How can I upgrade it to 15.3? I don't have the firmware upgrade option (Only install patch) at the Web Console...

Please, do not nag us. :whistle
It is not a good idea to install patches before ending the basic step :pound Install some patches can make hard our job if there are issues with your platform :disapprove .

Currently, the basic step is not ended : you still use an old kernel version and some files must be updated (it is why you don't have the firmware upgrade menu)

So wait.

But for waiting, can you post the output of
Code: Select all
ls -l /sys/class/leds/*/

Thank you the list output (needed to update files)

Now we go to try if there is no issue with kernel 3.14.2.

So we try to load it with fvdw-sl console.
unzip the attached file in the folder tftp
and use the menu "External kernel, load and start" of fvdw-sl console. (You have to select the file UIMAGE-3142-NWSP2CL-2)

Then post again the dmesg output. (do not restart the NAS)
(There will be some errors with the usb drivers as modules are missing)

To restore the previous kernel version: just reboot the nas.

:thumbup nice to see that it is working out of the box.
I see two messages in the kernel (3.14.2)

Code: Select all
orion_gpio_is_valid: invalid GPIO 12
orion_gpio_is_valid: invalid GPIO 7

From the setup file I see this
MPP7_GPO, /* Request power-off */
MPP12_GPO, /* Red led */
seems the GPIO 12 should be MPP12_GPIO

For pin 7 I have to look a little deeper as it defined on same way on the other lacie kirkwoods.

Does the reset work if you use the option reboot in the web interface ?

No, it does not. Restarted the NAS from the webpage and it does nothing. Checked by accessing the NAS via SSH and then executed an uptime command and it did not change (Unless the webinterface is the only thing that is restarted but I think that is not the case).

The reboot -f command via SSH works like a charm.. Also does the poweroff command but then the only way to turn it back on is to unplug the AC power cord and plug it back since the power switch is useless.

Hope this helps..Thank you again for your help and support!

It is the expected behaviour.

Attached a file so that the firmware thinks your nas as a nwsp2.

save the tar file in the share 'fvdw' (it should already exist as you used the upload menu ;) )
In putty, do this command
Code: Select all
tar -xzf /share/1000/fvdw/fvdwsl15-1-fakenwsp2-25mar15.tar -C /

Then reboot the nas.

Post the output
cat /etc/platform
and try to standby and reboot the nas by using the web-interface.

What is the behaviour when you use the power button?
