I checked the init script of 5big1 and indeed it picks the ip from netconsole line so ip 172.16.100.83 should be set by the standalone kernel

that ip is specified here viewtopic.php?f=30&t=3113#p30441

Ok, I forgot this point, the nas can use an ip set manually by the user.

So we roll-back on the first idea the standalone kernel is not received by the NAS

@basajaun

which standalone kernel did you use ? (or which version of fvdw-sl console do you use ?)

the correct kernel with the adapted ip assignment is this one
UIMAGE-26394-5BIG1-45-standalone

It is included in fvdw-sl-console update 18-1

Thank you for the outputs.

There is no information with the upgrade fw log as you made a new attempt without rebooting the nas. So we will never know what happened on the first attempt.

According to your output the issue is with the sda1 partition but you did not post the related output. So do
Code: Select all
mkdir sda1
mount /dev/sda1 /sda1
cat /sda1/boot.log

Please to post also :
ls -al /sda1
ls -al /sda1/etc/init.d

Hi Basajaun,

So we understand better why the NAS does not start : sda1 partition is empty for an unknown reason ! (maybe because you made a roll-back but we need later to understand why this action causes your issue)

To restore the nas in its former state, do these action from the telnet window
(Please follow exactly my commands and not be a bit lazy when you type them !) ;)
so
Code: Select all
mkdir /sda7     (only if you have stop the nas and you restart it)
cd /sda7/lacie-boot
mv sda1boot sda2boot

Reboot the nas and see if you can get a web access to the fw web-interface

As several kernel modules are loaded on a 5big1, some features will be broken (eg. raid) because the firmware won't find the modules on the selected fw partition: mismatched kernel version)

So you need to upgrade again the firmware to restore all features
