Release notes version fvdw-sl 13-0 19 sept 2012

Important remark: In this release the name to be used to access the administrator web interface of the NAS is changed from admin to admin-nas

13.0.1 Upgrade kernels: all devices now based on vanilla kernel 2.6.39.4
Enabling support for vpn, ip tables, GPT (EFI) partition support for disk > 2.2 TB (this will only work on nwsp2 Lite as the other devices don't have aboot loader supporting GPT formatted HDD).

13.0.2 Upgrades
- Transmission to version 2.61
and patched to restore write permissions of downloaded files

- Samba.
The intention was to upgrade Samba to version 3.6.6 and we have a working version. However implementation was canceled as it only reduces transfer speeds despite the new smb2 protocol. The huge binaries of 3.6.6 are causing much more cpu load then the current version

- Sendmail to version 8.14.5.
All binaries and basic files are included including creation of the special smmps user, but you need to set it up yourself to get it working. reason is that setup and corresponding configuration files are dedicated for the mail server you want to set up or smtp server you want to access as client. Generating these configuration files require compiler tools which are currently not present in the firmware and also the source file of sendmail 8.14.5. But experienced users might be able to get it working. In future release we will try to integrate it in the web interface

- English, French, German and Dutch language are now fully supported in all menu's

13.0.3 New features
- new submenus, popups instead of quick links
Making browsing in the web interface to submenu's easier and quicker

- "httrack" (web site copier) support menu
The HTTrack files are not included in the firmware not included in firmware due to large size, to be downloaded separately and installed as add on). only for nwsp2 and isp1 due to needed resources

- WebDav support including setup menu.
Making connection to shared folders possible via http or https using a browser or file browser supporting WeDav.

- Menu to download individual files using Wget

- user console for the web interface,
Enabling authorized users to use part of the web interface features separate from administrator web interface
Important remark: as result of this new feature the name to be used to access the administrator web interface is changed from admin to admin-nas

- scheduling stopping and starting of the media-, ftp-, vpn pptp servers , shutdown the NAS or put it on WOL standby,
using task scheduler (cron)

- vpn pptp server.
Menu to set basic configuration and user access.
vpn pptp client binary included as well but not yet possible to setup via webinterface (future release)
(A vpn pptp client is included standard in all windows operating systems)

- openvpn binary and folders included
but not yet possible to setup via web interface (in future release, requires significant effort, but if you want to set it up yourself you have the possibility)

- use of more characters in passwords
enabling setting more safe password. Not all characters are possible to use due to interference with firmware php scripts.

- New upload menu for patches
Enabling installing of critical firmware patches more fail prove

- openssl module added to PHP

- PHPMailer files included.
With this program you can sent emails using php scripts. To be used in future releases

- quota support.
Preparations made for future implementation, binaries and libraries included and kernels upgraded.
Initial test give some issues that need to be studied first to avoid problems. Therefor full integration is postponed to future version

13.0.4 Bug fixes
- Firefly using wrong configuration file when automatic starting at boot

- Using wrong kernel on nwsp2. If you upgrade from 12-1 or later then this cannot happen.
In the web interface now more information is supplied on which kernel is in use

- Transmission patched to restore write permissions of downloaded files (make deleting them possible as in any other shared folder)
