release of fvdw-sl-10-1 for networkspace vs2 (nwsp2)

Note this upgrade is suitable for the nwsp2 in classic version (256 MB), if you have a Lite version you will need a different package and have some more patient.
To check if you have a classic or Lite version read this post nwsp2 classic or Lite

Precondition to use the upgrade you must have a network space vs2 (classic) and have installed the fvdw-sl 9-0-beta version or higher and made the partitions on your disk as explained in the guide to install fvdw-sl on the nwsp2. If you did not do that then you cannot use this upgrade. In that case you could consider to use the first time install package for fvdw-sl-10-1-nwsp2 (see next post below this one)

How to upgrade:

Download the zip file attached with name fvdw-sl-10-1-nwsp2-19nov2011.zip and extract it in a directory of your choice, it contains one file:

fvdw-sl-10-1-nwsp2-19nov2011.bin (this is the firmware file)

Advice read the release notes file before upgrading RELEASE NOTES

To perform the upgrade use the Lacie firmware upgrade menu in the fvdw-sl web interface of the nwsp2
Be patient writing the image will take some time, the menu will let you know when finished or when it failed. Do not perform a reboot while the firmware is being written.
I tested the upgrade on my own nwsp2 and it worked fine.

Please note that the ssh password will be reset to the default value after the upgrade (giveit2me). This done by purpose to be able to get access again in case you forgot the password you set for SSH.

Let us know your results in the nwsp2 forum.

First time install package for fvdw-sl-10-1 on the lacie network space vs2 (nwsp2) classic version (do not use for the nwsp2 Lite version)

Attached a guide how to do the first time install and a file package containing all the files you need for the first time install. The HDD has to be removed form the casing for this first time install and connected to a PC running Linux, but next firmware upgrades can be done via the web interface of the fvdw-sl firmware.

Please let us know your experiences (in the dedicated nwsp2 topic of this forum) thks

Note: This package is not suitable for the nwsp2 Lite ! ( as separate package will be available soon)n

ps1. When you have used the standby or reboot command in the web interface of the fvdw-sl firmware on the nwsp2 the power up of the nwsp2 will change. When connecting electrical power it will directly continue with booting no need anymore to press and hold the button on the back for 2 sec. This change was necessary to make normal linux standby and reboot commands work. Also I think it is good that it boots automatically after a power failure as you are not always at home to fire it up . When using the standby command in the web interface the nwsp2 will switch off with the power still connected, it can be started again by simply pressing and releasing the button on the back. No need to disconnect/reconnect power.
