Web Explorer Install Fail

Web Explorer Install Fail

Postby s_ajouri » Sun Nov 15, 2020 4:26 pm

Hello, I am trying to install web explorer but I keep getting
Current System Status: Fail: install command failed, -98

Is it paid option?
I am running v 18-2 on white cloudbox.

Thanks

Hi

Indeed it is an add-on. So read the related announcement https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2952

Please to note web-explorer is an outdated package which uses java applet and then no longer supported by the main browsers. You should use webdav which provides the same features

Thanks for the reply, the Webdav has worked fine, however it took me ages to setup as I am in France behind one of these teletubby-gui all-in-one tv router modem game boxes, it is mostly trial and error to set things up.

EDIT: I can access my files remotely and navigate through them via http and https, however, accessing from Windows 10 Network location seems problematic as it gives back and error "the folder you entered does not appear to be valid". I've checked the Webclient service is running and set to Automatic.

Hi

On windows10 webdav should work as on windows 8.

Maybe you find these old posts on our board or similar information on web:
https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1600
https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1828
The updated link to wildapricot is now https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/198

I am not sure but I think windows no longer support unsecure url (http) with webdav and then you have to use https protocol. So install our auto-sign CA root certificate is required (you can find detail on these posts)

Many thanks for the links, frankly, I've been doing the same procedure. The server settings are good, I can access the share via Webdav client from android phone, but Windows 10 seems to be blocking all http/s connections for some reason, I have disabled firewalls with no avail, deleted all login users from Windows credential and loaded the certificate properly to my personal folder in cert. manager. also Windows keeps telling me this is not a proper name.

One thing to add though; when I create a certificate in fvdw panel, the box's date jumps to 2028 (the expiry date of the certificate) and I have to set it again manually or by syncing to NTP again, :dontknow

Hi

So it is not the expected behaviour. I go to do some tests on a fresh version 18.2

Hi again,

I made a test on a windows10 and all seems to be ok on my side: can add and use (R/W access) wabdav shares using http or https protocol: fvdw(https) or Projet(http)

So I think the issue may be your amazing behaviour when you set a certificate. What firmware version do you have ?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi

There is another point you should know with windows and explained here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/networking/cannot-automatically-reconnect-dav-share
https://docs.microsoft.com/fr-fr/troubleshoot/windows-client/networking/cannot-automatically-reconnect-dav-share(fr)

So after a rebooting, you have to create again your remote web share because our web server uses the Basic Authentication.

In addition with this page, to create/reset automatically a webdav resource from the nas on session openning, do
- create file (eg. webdav.bat) with these lines
Code: Select all
net use X: /delete
net use X: http(s)://nasname/sharename /persistent:no /user:username userpasswd

- put the file in the startup folder of the start-up menu

where username/userpasswd are the credentials allowing at least a read access on the share "sharename"

I think I go to put all these tricks in the webdav help page

It's been like two weeks now without internet connection, I am running off a 4G tiny device due to a sabotaged optical distributor in my building.. :hammerhead
However, I have changed the hard drive inside the box, and I am really impressed of how fast you can setup the firmware again. I am only waiting for my router to get connected to the internet again.

But BTW, the box's clock is still going 2018 by itself, even going off the internet and I set it up on manual date/time. it is weird because if the clock was faulty it would go back to a really older date!

I will do some tests and post back here. Many thanks for the help, really appreciated :punk .
