It will be limited by the file system you use. As far as I read on the internet when using ext4 as file system and gpt partition table the max file size will be 16TB for linux kernels from 2.6. x onwards. So I guess using a 12TB disk should be possible. But I never tried it myself so I might be wrong.

Hi

By using raid feature on my 5big2, I got a 11TB data partition.
According to some tests, having a big partition decreases speed I/O performance(cpu limit)

Hi, I have a new problem today, i bough a 10Tb drive.

When installing via fvdw console creating/writing /dev/sda8 fails, but it shows me i can acces to the system.

Now i have acces to the drive but i cant acces via windows or open folders because of dev/sd8 is not right.

How can i solve the problem, i cant update because i cant acces to fvdw folder.

Even dont know how to format/reset the hard drive through the online web.

Can you help me.

Hi

I think understand what's happened.

Formatting a big partition requires many resources. As fvdw-sl console runs an OS over the ram, I assume there was not enough resources when formatting is running.

So you need to reset the disk from the firmware webinterface: disk setup menu and click on the reset link.

After running the setup disk job, you need to create at least one share.

Note: I already formatted a big partition on my 5big2 (11TB) directly from the webinterface. So you should succeed

I am trying it right now, i will reply soon.

How long does it takes to format?

I previously install 16.1 version but it does not have format option on webinterface so now i am installing the 18.1 firmware.
