Fresh install looking for samba 4.0

Fresh install looking for samba 4.0

Postby lwijns » Wed Feb 16, 2022 10:38 am

Hi!

I just installed the firmware on my old Lacie network disk and would like to use samba 4.0. That's why I made a donation using paypal. Can you add me to the contributors list so I can make use of the feature?

Thanks!

Thanks!

I also have some problems with getting the external USB working. currently when connecting with putty and entering lsusb -t i get the following:
/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=orion-ehci/1p, 480M

Could you help me get the external usb working? I have a usb drive connected formatted in exfat.

Which kernel are you using? If it is 4.14.133-1 then this a known issue caused by missing code in kernel setup to enable usb power.

I assume you use fvdw-sl-18-1 or 18-2. In that case you should have above mentioned kernel.
Attached a patched kernel (extract the zip file).
You can test by using fvdw-sl console and using the feature load and start external kernel.
To do that put the file in the tftp folder of the fvdw-sl console switch of your nas and start fvdw-sl console and select appropiate action

If you are happy with it you can install on your firmware disk
Put the (extracted) file in the schared folder fvdw
Connent via ssh to your nas
change to fvdw folder
Code: Select all
cd /direct-usb/fvdw

write the kernel to the correct partition.
CAUTION !! be sure that you write the kernel to /dev/sda6
(using wrong partition will make you nas firmware non functional or destroy your data stored on your nas)
Code: Select all
dd if=UIMAGE-414133-KIRKWOOD-2 of=/dev/sda6

Now the new kernel will be loaded at next boot
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
