I change
Code: Select all
fruit:time machine max size = 285875

to
Code: Select all
fruit:time machine max size = 285875M

in
Code: Select all
/usr/lib/smb.conf

and now i can make full backup. i'll try to make other backup when its end

Apple say for Catalina:

To minimize the risk of needing to create a new backup, consider the following precautions:

Make sure the firmware of the external backup disk is updated. If you back up to Time Capsule, visit the Apple Support website to make sure that the version of firmware you are using is the most up to date available.

To back up to the external backup disk, use the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, if supported, instead of Apple Filing Protocol (AFP).

Use an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) device for the external backup disk to avoid the consequences of unexpected power outages.

Disable the write cache on the network storage device, if allowed.

any ideas?

So, here the results:
First, i try to manually add M to size like i say before
* Full backup: OK
* Incremental: OK (little minutes after full backup '25mb')

I download the files you have send and apply, log:
Code: Select all
root@fred-nas:/direct-usb/fvdw # tar -xf fvdw-sl-18-2-TMsize-over-smb-31mar2020.tgz -C /etc/finc
tar: smbfunc_conf_commit.finc: time stamp 2020-03-30 19:12:58 is 68094599.717935967 s in the future
root@fred-nas:/direct-usb/fvdw # tar -xf fvdw-sl-18-2-TMsize-xattr-over-smb-02apr2020.tgz -C /etc/finc
tar: smbfunc_conf_commit.finc: time stamp 2020-04-02 15:45:36 is 68341354.782048852 s in the future

I Try incremental backup again, this time the size work well and show correct free space and total space.
* Incrementarl backup ok.

PS.:
* It's my first time with an macbook.
* My share is only Timemachine and samba, i not use afp cause it seens to be deprecated

Hi Killuabr,

As the the stream option seems not to be the issue, I advice to use the first tarball (31march). Indeed, with xattr stream, there are many issue with fs FUSE driver like exFAT, davfs,curlftpfs,...

@MacGTO

I read there are some issues with latest macOS 10 version and TM. Maybe it is your case :scratch
