to make this possible there must run a program on the nas, meaning it is not really shut down.
You could let it respond to a magic packet sent from another PC the wake it up.
Furthermore the WOL mode doesn't save a lot of energy as the cpu and network card are active.
You could also just let it run. After period of inactive it will spin down the disk (unless you have a feature running that does regular disk read/write)
