5Big 2 - Stuck on Firmware 1.2.90

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can please provide quick help, as I'm unlikely to be able to get into the nitty gritty of the modified firmwares etc available here.

The 5Big 2 I own is stuck on Lacie firmware 1.2.90. The only available version from Lacie is now 2.2.12.2.

I have tried using that capsule to update the firmware in a few ways, all to no avail.

From dashboard, it fails to connect the update server at all.

If I dump the capsule in the admin share and reboot, it doesn't pick it up. If I use Lacie Network Assistant, it fails saying that "the next version is 1.2.90 and you tried to use 2.2.12.2". So it appears to be rejecting such a large jump in version number, although it's actually wrong for it to say that the next version is 1.2.90 as that's my current version.

There's data on the disks that reight now I can't wipe.

So, does anyone:

1) Know why this is happening?
2) Know a fix I can try?
3) Have any versions of Lacie firmware that I can try flashing to?

Hi

indeed you can not upgrade directly the firmware from your current version. AFAIK you have to upgrade it step by step between some major updates. But currently I do not have a guidance

Does anyone have any copies of Lacie firmware that they could let me have between 1.2.90 and 2.2.12.2 that they could let me have so I can (hopefully) incrementally flash my device?

If so, please reply here and we can arrange an online repository or something.

The links found with archive.org still work. Unfortunately it are only two:

As you can see they didn't use consistent names, but with some guessing you might be able to find the others on this list

In addition, you have to find also two patch files to be able to upgrade to 2.5.5

Thanks all, appreciated. I've contacted Lacie as well, but I'm not holding my breath as there's no reason for them to give me any support. We'll see.

Hi all !

First of all Im very glad that I was able to find this forum ! :) Ive just got from my step father this nice 5big2 and im facing the same problem as colleague here. I have currently version of firmware 1.3 and want to update to newer one but yes I aswel facing issue with missing the firmware files beetween my and new version.

So the question, have anyone anywhere stored old firmware and be able to send link to donwload ? Im also willing to pay as I need it because of old SMB version and I think this could fix it.
