smb version

smb version

Postby kawaiicoconut » Fri Mar 15, 2019 12:19 am

I did set up my 5big network2 yesterday, enabled shares and stuff, I could not connect through my windows 10 PC, but in my android I connected with no problems, I was curious and went to enable/disable windows features and checked smb 1.0 (the deprecated version vulnerable to Wannacry) Is the SMB version 1.0 on fvdw? I need to know as this compatibility now comes disabled by default and I would need to enable in all computers at home, doesn't even appear on Windows explorer

Yes fvdw-sl currently uses a samba version that only supports smb1.
In the new release 18-0 an upgraded samba server will be provided that supports smb2 and smb3

Hi, i just upgraded FW to latest version "fvdw-sl 18.1 (5big2)"
Currently it I am using default samba version.
I need smb v2/3 support, but i cannot switch to the samba v4.x.
In web page where i can select samba versions, i can see version "(3.0.37)" only. The second option is empty => version "()" and if I try to select this one it reverts to the default version ...

Is there something i am missing here ?

Thank you.

Hi, i have now put my fvdw-sl login in to FW webpage on the nas interface, which was working.
I can now see that samba version 4.9.4 is available, but when i try to download it i got an error message (cannot retrieve the packet error 203).

I the meantime i made a little paypal donation, hope it helps.

Thank you.

Thank you for your donation, much appreciated.

We added you to the donators group and granted access to addons

So you should be able to use samba 4

Hi, thank you very much, it is working fine now, as expected :)

At first place the new samba version was not displayed because i was behind a http proxy with auth, and I do not know if there is a way to set the proxy settings on the nas for system use (samba installation and so on). To solve it, I connected the nas directly to internet without proxy.

Thank you very much for your great work, have a nice day!

Hi,

Got same problem trying to activate smb 4:
Fail: can not retrieve the package (203)

Upgrade to firmware 18.2 went flawless but just won't activate smb4

Hi

This is the expected behaviour.

I am sorry but only donators can install samba 4
