@fvdw

I think you made a misunderstanding: it is not hvymetal who wants to use an usb drive but pacco. So it is normal not to have se dev nodes.

@hvymetal.

Indeed for clarity, do an assessment would be nice:

what I understood:
- if you format only one disk by following this guide viewtopic.php?f=26&t=2210&start=30#p18823), you succeed to get the Lacie interface
- if you format the 5 disk as the guide but without building the raid via fvdw-sl console, you get the Lacie web interface and you see the 5 disks with the right size.
BUT if you try to build the raid 5 with the 5 disks from the web interface, the raid volume have a wrong size.

So I suggest you to repeat this and use the fvdw-sl console to understand what is wrong with this raid:

after getting the telnet access by using the last standalone kernel version (#17):
- upload the mdadm tool,
- set run permission for mdadm
Code: Select all
chmod 755 /mdadm

- examine all raid members
Code: Select all
mdadm --examine /dev/sd[abcde][25789]
and
Code: Select all
mdadm --examine --brief /dev/sd[abcde][25789]

- try to assemble the data raid
Code: Select all
mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sd[abcde]2

- post the output of
Code: Select all
 mdadm --detail /dev/md0

Maybe we understand better the raid size issue...
