Just two another asks what kernel version do you use ? and your PC uses wireless access or a network cable ?

To get the telnet access only the standalone version must be used.

If you don't get the u-boot console so you have an issue with your network or with the NIC of your 5big2

If you get the u-boot console we will try to get manually the telnet access.

So you use wireless.

You got the u-boot console:thumbup So there is an issue with the kernel upload step. Maybe the kernel is not rightly uploaded if you have a bad wireless.

I suggest that your PC uses a LAN access with a network cable.

If you are agree with my suggestion : close the u-boot console, switch-off the NAS and try again to use the "Standalone menu" of the fvdw-sl console.

...and if there is an disk problem it can take quite a while before the kernel finished loading.
Then th telnet client tries to contact to early before the telnet server is up and running
If telnet times out, keep it open and try to connect manual using the connect button in de telnet client drop down menu after waiting a few minutes

hi fvdw!

Thanks for you ideas, frist yes I'm shure that I have vs2, second how long could it be reasonable time to wait?

on the other hand, I have come to think I don't need to install the lacie software, is there a way to do the same process but to install your firmware?

thanks

it depends, I have seen cases were one disk was a problem that it took 1 minute. if more disk have a problem then it can even be longer.
ps you can alos load the standalone kernel without any disk inside. And I am sure it works because I have a 5big2 myself ;)

Yes our firmware runs on it. See here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1476#p10741
