Hi, I´m really new here and I came across your forums because I have the exact same problem as the OP, I was guessing if I can get the files that you guys mention, in order to get my 5big network 2 running.

Thanks in advance

Hi ErickT,

Check if the DHCP is enabled on your router and your LAN IP must be 192.168.1.xx or 192.168.0.xx.

Try to disable your firewall

Install fvdw-sl console (version 5.1) on your pc running windows

2.
Switch off 5big2 be sure it is connected to the LAN (ip range of dhcp server must be (192.168.1.xxx or 192.168.0.xxx)
system disk is sda (installed in first slot of 5big2) only one disk installed

3.
Start fvdw-sl console on your windows pc and chose load standalone kernel
choose kernel ...-164-standalone) via fvdw-sl console (help see fvdw-sl help menu)

4.
Start 5big2 when the fvdw-sl console is waiting for u-boot (see help fvdw-sl console)
It will interupt the boot of the 5big2 and start uploading the kernel automatically
wait until it has uploaded the kernel and telnet client starts
Log in with tel net client after standalone kernel has started

Do you follow rightly the steps order ?

With what ip do you try to get access?
when you use fvdw-sl console, the NAS has no longer its usual IP address but 192.168.1.252 (or 192.168.0.252)

I have tried: 192.168.1.107 (usual) and 192.168.1.252, both with same results, no conection to the telnet server

So it's useless to try the IP 192.168.1.107 and always uses 192.168.1.252

But maybe a previous step fails before opening the telnet console and the kernel is not really uploaded...

So try to get the u-boot console :
* select in the menu "u-boot console"
* when the console is opened and is waiting for u-boot, restart the NAS
* Then if you get the message "starting u-boot net console click on window and press enter"
* press enter and you must get the prompt "Marvell>>"
