Please Help me with my 5Big Network 2

Update
I removed the second drive and rebooted the unit
the unit booted and loaded the the (crap) lacie firmware
I then inserted the 2nd drive whilst running .. amazingly ..it picked up the second drive and allowed me to create raid 1 or raid 0
I created raid 0 .. the unit created raid 0 and appears to work correctly (more tests like ...will the unit reboot ok)

so far it appears - for a 5TB unit (not diskless) a inserted formatted drive with the (crap) lacie firmware installed in the right partitions - solves the problem (more tests on the way) for the 2nd drive onwards (i'm still unsure of "echo "LaCieFirstBootLaCie")

thanks for this feedback, it might be very useful to others with this problem.
..and as long as it works don't bother about the LacieFirstBoot ;)

ps a fvdw-sl version with raid support is in preparation

I'm having trouble with the 3rd disk onwards (creating a raid 5) ..2 disks seems to be OK ..adding the 3rd disk creates a failure and the system falls over

Re fvdw-sl version with raid support is in preparation ... my guess is that you are regularly asked .. Could you share a estimated release time frame

Hi webraid,

webraid wrote:Re fvdw-sl version with raid support is in preparation ... my guess is that you are regularly asked .. Could you share a estimated release time frame

Last month and upto today, I could not progress on this feature: not enough long free periods (because I have to break my dev NAS to do it)/ my office job.

I think make some real tests how to implement it at the beginning december. So I assume that at least a beta version should be available on the next January

In case anybody needs to start with fully erased or completely new drives, here's what you need:

I managed to create an clean image with LaCix Linux version 2.2.10.1 from scratch you can dd to your first drive of (almost) any size.
+ Any number of additional drives (0 to 4) only need to be unformatted (no partition table at all).
+ No need to copy anything on those drives.
+ All necessary stuff will be copied at first boot from your first drive (slot 1, /dev/sda).
+ Autoadjusting user space to disks maximum.
+ Full version - no updates applied at all (till now).

I guess there will be a size limit of 2 TB because of its type of partition table.
(Had no drives over 2 TB handy - a GPT might help?!)

Hope this helps!

This is what you get at first boot with one imaged and four fresh 1 TB drives:

Hi everybody!
First of all, thanks for you amazing solution. I succefully installed your firmware and works fine!

Now I have a Lacie 5Big N2 to "resume" with the crap Lacie Firmware (I know, isn't a good choice, but the device isn't mine!)

I downloaded the .rar files but when extracting I got error of CRC on part 3/4/5, files seems to be damaged.

It's any way to kindly have the good file?

Thank you very much for your help!

what is the post were you take the rar files from (copy the url)

--edit
if it is this one viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1402&start=20#p12278 (6 rar files) then I don't find a problem I downloaded them and they extract just fine
