So if you have enable a module with macdalor account, your qnap should see the module...

I think the issue is on your qnap side.
- first do not use backup "NAS-to-NAS" (according with your previous screen capture) but a rsync job

tried again with the share public instead of private; deleted /recreated it; same result...the strange thing is that it connects but doesn't see the share... :thinking what else could I try...

oh, also choose the rsync (file level) backup from snap...

That would mean there is an issue on a fresh fvdw-sl install (wrong permissions for nobody account on sda5 or folder /etc) :scratch
Need to deepen this point

Maybe I found an explanation for the strange behaviour of your NAS

Did you install some patches for fvdw-sl 16.1 without restarting the NAS? Indeed, the patch fvdw-sl-16.1-USB-fix-17feb16.zip overwrites on /etc the default permissions (write permissions for everybody). In this environment, when you tried to enable the rsync server from the web-interface, its conf file is not created and no module is broadcasted by the server.

Note: I also found a bug on this feature: you can not use an USB share as module if you have set a raid. :whistle
