With Norton Ghost you can clone an entire disk, the target has to be equal or greater than the source.
U might look and search the newsgroups for it, I will not discuss how and where in specific on this forum.

I can really recommend Hiren's BootCD to you, it has saved me in several cases over lots of years.
It's an bootable CD and has almost every thinkable utility u need regarding to managing/recovering disks/partitions/.... and more and it's FREE

you can also use the dd command for that, but be aware that you need a big disk to store the image which could have a size of 500 GB
the command to use is assuming the disk you want to back up is /dev/sdb

Code: Select all
dd if=/dev/sdb of=/path-to/name-image

Please note that you have to replace "path-to" by the actual path where you want to store the image and "name-image" by the name you want to give to the image.
Also backing up 500 GB with dd command will take a looooong time. So be patient if you go this route.
If there is no personal data you want to keep on that disk then it is an action with not so much use. Recreating the original partition table is easy. The run the original firmware you only will need the partition I mentioned.

ps I advise to do some Internet reading on Linux and associate commands. The dd command is a powerful and as result a dangerous command. (its nick name is "dead disk" if you make a mistake in the syntax it can easily destroy all data on a disk you didn't want

my original internetspace disk its now formated but the system uses about 10-15gb, i don´t know why

i tried with norton ghost with windows and this one make me diferent partitions with diferent images
in older versions i remember that only create one big image but via DOS i remembered in hirens 6.0

i recorded hirens 15 this afternoon but norton ghost nots there ¿?

fvdw if i use this comenad to backup

wahts the command to restore the image?

and if is formated it needs only 10-15gb or less i supposse

the command will be
Code: Select all
dd if=/path-to/image-name of=/dev/sdb

Please note that everything on drive /dev/sdb will be overwritten, so you better be sure it is the right disk you are writing to.
And the image will be 500 GB in size (if you disk is 500GB when using dd command. It reads sector by sector and writes sector by sector (it a 1 to 1 copy) thats also why it takes so long

when it is is only 155 MB that means that there is probably hardly any data on it besides the Lacie firmware
