Unable to instal v18 on my Edmin V2

Postby arssant » Fri Nov 12, 2021 3:44 pm

Hi
Following my 1s post yesterday: https://plugout.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3581
I made a new try, and started a fresh install via console utility v18 firmware.
Every 1st steeps worked fine, detection, firmware selection, tftp sending firmware. but as you can see on the log ( serial console ) got kernel panic, and lacie stop responding.
Any clue ? I followed the tuto and faq, and fresh HD ( used one, no partitions, but no delays, no crc´s... )

Re: Unable to instal v18 on my Edmin V2

Which kernel did you choose in fvdw-sl console?

I think you did not select the isp1 standalone kernel.

Or do you get this output after installing firmware and rebooting?
The kernel is trying to load a non existing root file system. This could be because partitioning failed when installing firmware or a because of a defective disk.

But please describe more in detail what you have done

Looking more close to your output it is clear to me that you did not boot from disk but loaded an external kernel

To install firmware you should use kernel UIMAGE-3136-ISP1-14-standalone
Your output mentioned 3.14.2,
Code: Select all
...
[    0.000000] Linux version 3.14.2 (root@fvdwsl-5big2.local) (gcc version 4.8.1
...
I think you loaded the kernel from tftp/firmware/isp1 folder.
You should not do that but instead load the standalone kernel and use fvdw-sl-programs command and install firmware

Hi.
Stand-alone kernel: ok
Version isp1 : ok
TFTP transfer : successfully
Just after tftp 100% transfer:
Code: Select all
Lump received switching to NetConsole on 192.168.3.151
Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.
...
...

and the kernel panic at the end, no more serial and telnet from FVDW console disconnecting time out.

Hard drive, checked no bad sector, no crc, no delay. And I tryed 2 HDD, one WD, one toshiba.

Thanks.

That is not the standalone kernel use the one in tftp folder (not the one in tftp/firmware/isp1

UIMAGE-3136-ISP1-14-standalone

Be sure you use option "install firmware" in fvdw-sl-console and follow the instructions given in the main window
