Then try to delete the share "minidlna" which will force a fresh install

Hi Jocko
No success, I deleted the share from the File Share menu, re-installed it, and same thing...

I also tried to add the folder, and when pressed save changes, it told me: Fail: could not update the settings file, 2

Ok

Error code 2 means the web server failed to write the new file on the data volume and without it minidlna server aborts. It is very amazing and currently I do not yet understand that :thinking So several outputs :
Code: Select all
cat /boot.log
mount
df /dev/sda8
ls -al /dev/null
ls -al /share
ls -ld /share/1000
ls -ld /share/1000/minidlna
ls -al /share/1000/minidlna
grep root -A2 /etc/group
grep -E 'root|nobody' /etc/passwd

Re: Minidlna stopped working

Hi

First there is another issue on web-explorer. So we go to deepen this point later.
I assume also you do not use the ntp service to synchronize the system time on your nas and the current time is 2018...
About minidlna, two points are amazing :
- timestamp of the file mfvdw.conf : 2011.
So as you deleted the share minidlna previously, you shouldn't have this timestamp on the file :whistle
- you can not have this group id on this file '65534'. This point has been fixed on a very old firmware version and currently that means the configuration file of apache server is corrupted :thinking Did you edit the files httpd.* (httpd.0, httpd.1, ... httpd.conf)

Then post
Code: Select all
ls -l /etc/httpd.*
grep ^Group /etc/httpd.*
rm -f /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
ls -al /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf

if the file mfvdw.conf is no longer here, make a new install and select a stream media folder. Try to start and post
Code: Select all
ps axf
ls -al /share/1000/minidlna

rm: cannot remove `/share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf': Operation not permitted
root@galaberta:/ # ls -al /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
-rw-r--r--  1 nobody 65534 227 2011-11-16 11:16 /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
This would mean the file has special attributes... Still amazing because never the firmware sets special attributes on this file :scratch.
I think you have the issue for a long time because I found at what time we change apache settings to set a regular guid on a new file : version 15.0 :whistle
So see what attribute(s) are present
Code: Select all
lsattr /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
if you notice i or a , remove those attributes
Code: Select all
chattr -i /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
chattr -a  /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf

Then try again to remove it
Code: Select all
rm -f /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
ls -al /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf

Note: as long as the file is still present, it is useless to make new attempts to install minidlna

Note: please to use the BBCode [code ][/code] when you paste outputs much more readable (I edited your posts) see: https://plugout.net/faq.php?mode=bbcode

Hi Jocko,
I believe something went wrong... sorry for my lack of knowlegde! I am barely able to put your instructions! ;)

Let´s try to use BBCode, here is the output:
Code: Select all
root@galaberta:/ # lsattr /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
------------------- /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
root@galaberta:/ # chattr -i /share/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
chattr: No such file or directory while trying to stat /share/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
root@galaberta:/ # chattr -a /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
root@galaberta:/ # chattr -i /share/1000/minidlna/mrvdw.conf
chattr: No such file or directory while trying to stat /share/1000/minidlna/mrvdw.conf
root@galaberta:/ # rm -f /share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf
rm: cannot remove `/share/1000/minidlna/mfvdw.conf': Operation not permitted
root@galaberta:/ # rm -al /share/1000/minidlna/mfdvdw.conf
rm: invalid option -- 'a'
Try `rm --help' for more information.
